Along with doing important work in our community, Judson is committed to making a difference in the world.
The Outreach Committee meets regularly to lead the community in work that helps make the world a better place. Right now one of our Judson families is living abroad in Thailand working to help educate girls from the Hill Tribes, and working for world peace and justice. The committee is also very involved in inclusivity and diversity and is very open to hearing your ideas and passions for how Judson can advance important work here at home and in the world.
Heifer International
Every year our children and youth run a giving campaign to raise funds for Heifer International. And what’s a Heifer giving campaign? Our kids selling homeade treats and sharing stories so they can buy animals — like water buffalos, chickens and goats — for people less forutunate. Heifer is “Bringing an End to World Hunger Through Unimaginable Blessings” and Judson is a part of that. www.heifer.org
Baptist Affiliations we are part of:
The Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists (AWAB) was established in the 1990’s to support the inclusion of all persons in Baptist congregations. Judson was among the first congregations to join this group and has actively supported it since then. www.wabaptists.org
The Alliance of Baptists, founded in 1987, has called Baptists to stand for those values which have distinguished the Baptist movement from its beginnings four centuries ago–the freedom and accountability of every individual in matters of faith and a commitment to inclusiveness. www.allianceofbaptists.org
The American Baptist Churches-USA is composed of some 1,500,000 persons in the USA. It is the umbrella organization where individual congregations can leverage themselves both financially and with human resources.
Judson is a member of the Rochester-Genesee Region of the American Baptist Churches, consisting of 34 congregations located from New York to California, and sharing a strong interest in matters of social justice. www.abc-usa.org
