Green Team

The Judson Green Team is a committed  group of folks inspiring action and raising awareness about stewardship of our earth.   You will find that we are passionate about the environment and what we can do, especially when we work together!

The Green Team meets bimonthly over a potluck dinner to discuss and decide what issue to tackle next and how to do it. Here are some of the things we have done and are doing:

  • Explored in a 3-part education hour series how our power as consumers, in concert with our deeper values, can bring about change for the better.
  • Committed to a goal of getting to “Zero Waste” at our Judson Streetfest.  This year we recycled just about everything!
  • Creating community around ways we can all make a difference: eating local, gardening tips, alternative transportation, sharing expertise … and so much more.

The earth is a gift and taking care of it is a spiritual practice.

Youth Farm and Market Project www.youthfarm.net
The Youth Farm and Market Project provides year-round, youth development programming for youths ages  9 – 18, utilizing experiential education and training, urban agriculture, gardens and greenhouses.  They build youth leadership through planting, growing, preparing, and selling food.

Youth Farm and Market Project currently works in 3 neighborhoods in the Twin Cities, Lyndale and Powderhorn in Minneapolis, and the West Side of St. Paul.  The Lyndale Farms are near 31st and Blaisdell, right in the Judson neighborhood.

Whole Farm Cooperative www.wholefarmcoop.com
Whole Farm Coop represents 30 member families in Central Minnesota.  They are committed to creating farms that nourish their families spiritually and economically, sustain the environment, and provide eaters not only with safe wholesome food, but also with a clear sense of who and where their food came from.

They deliver to Judson the second Wednesday of every month. It’s some of the best local food you’ve ever tasted.

Seed Savers Exchange www.seedsavers.org
Since 1975, Seed Savers Exchange members have passed on approximately one million samples of rare garden seeds to other gardeners.  They are a non-profit organization of gardeners dedicated to saving and sharing heirloom seeds.

Through research, education, demonstration, and community-building, PRI Cold Climate catalyzes and fosters the creation of an abundant and restorative culture for living in northern temperate climates.
