Worship & Wonder
A Worship Space for Children & Youth
Rainbow Room
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to experience the stories of scripture rather than just hearing them? How would it feel to walk across the parched wilderness, to stand in the temple courts, to hear Jesus call your name as you stand in the Sea of Galilee?
While we can’t actually “know” what it felt like to be present for these events, we can use our senses and our minds to help us more fully enter these stories with a sense of wonder.
Sunday mornings following A Time With Children, all preK – 8th graders (high school youth are also welcome) may leave the sanctuary to participate in an engaging and age appropriate worship experience that is both educational and formational. It will be an opportunity to learn about worship, identify more fully the divine presence in their lives, and explore their own journeys of faith.
A rotating group of lay volunteers will help guide Judson’s children through the varied rhythms and rituals of worship using music, art, drama, and a variety of experiential and contemplative spiritual practices. The themes for Worship & Wonder will be drawn from the texts of the Revised Common Lectionary and will often parallel the worship service for adults.
Once a month, typically on the third Sunday, the children and youth will remain in the sanctuary with their families for an intergenerational worship service, blending elements of Judson’s traditional service with elements of the children’s Worship & Wonder service.
