Judson’s cookbook!

We feel like the shepherd with the lost sheep . . . or maybe Little Bo Peep -- we don't know where to find them.  Any way you say it, we need your recipes by Sunday, September 14.  Where are those wonderful recipes we know you all have stashed away in your kitchens?  We're looking for family favorites, pot-luck suggestions, international flavors, kids’ recipes, easy, healthy snacks, etc.  Here's how you and your family can contribute to our cookbook after you decide on your recipes:  Type them out on your computer and send to Vonne at DWVJ20@msn.com  OR  write/type them out on paper and put them in the green box in the sanctuary.  We would like to have the cookbook available by the 100th celebration kickoff the weekend of November 14 and 15, and the publisher requires several weeks lead time.  Any questions?  The committee members are Sandy Chatfield, Vonne Jonsson, Kathy Urbaniak and Joan Weatherhead.

Judson Knitter’s Group

In September the knitting group will again start meeting.  Our original purpose when we started a few years ago was to knit prayer shawls.  Our group has met this goal admirably, with many, many shawls being given to people in need of comfort.  A few of our knitters make blankets for the new babies in our midst.  Since we currently have a good supply of shawls on hand, we wondered what else we could be doing.   A young student teacher related to one of our members the problem she saw in the elementary school where she teaches.  The children there have to go out to recess in shifts so they can share hats, mittens and scarves in the cold weather.  So we decided that this year our focus would be to knit hats, scarves and mittens for that school.  The group is open to anyone who wants to join us.  You don’t even have to know how to knit, if you just want to join in the “womanship”.  One Judsonite who does not knit has hosted the group just for our company.  We meet the second Saturday of the month at 1:30 pm.  We meet in a member’s home, or sometimes we meet with some of our shut-ins.  This month we will meet on Saturday, September 13 at Walker Place so we can visit with Verna Hesse.  You are welcome to join us.  Call Margaret Buystedt if you want to join the group and get email reminders of meetings.
